Lake Seventeen Information

In the town of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, known as “The quieter side of the north woods”, lies a hidden gem – Lake Seventeen. It’s a “private” lake with no public access, three state owned islands (one you can camp on), and many bays to explore. With one third of the shoreline undeveloped, you can experience loons nesting, whitetail deer taking a drink, eagles soaring overhead or perched in one of their favorite White Pines. Lake Seventeen is an “all sports” lake that doesn’t get abused. Plenty of room to water ski, sail, fish or just floating in your inner tube. Also, the clarity of the water makes Lake Seventeen an excellent snorkeling/scuba lake. For the fisherman, Lake Seventeen is known for its excellent bass fishing, both large and small mouth, and has produced walleye that top the scales at eight pounds. The lake has a pro-active lake association which holds its annual meeting on Memorial Day weekend. Annual dues are voluntary and are used for fish stocking, conservation education, and protection of the valuable resource known as Lake Seventeen.

Lake statistics:

  • 172 acres, 31 feet deep
  • Clear water
  • 3 + miles of shoreline
  • 3 State Owned islands
  • Hard shoreline, weed beds around islands
  • Fish present: Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, perch, crappie, bluegill, northern, and a musky or two
